Internet
Consistent Internet service is required for enrollment at ALDCA. If you lose service for more than a day or two, please have a Plan B in place. Decide if you will go to a family member or friend's house, use a hot spot, or go to a local library or coffee shop. We do understand that there are a myriad of reasons that your Internet may be disconnected for several hours or several days; however, not having Internet access does not qualify as an excused absence.
School Expectations
K12 has been working in the public school sector for two decades. Over 100,000 students per year have attended public school at home via K12 Managed Schools for years. Because we are a public school done at home, we have requirements for enrollment. *Please see Parent/Student Handbook At ALDCA, students work with state certified teachers who conduct live classes with standards-based instruction, Teachers provide instruction and interventions for students. Computers
Families who qualify, will receive receive a computer, printer/scanner, headset, and speakers.
Qualifying for a loaner computer does not mean each student will receive a computer.
If you have been denied eligibility for a loaner computer and feel that you should have been approved, or are in need of an extra computer, please reach out to Beth Wittner at [email protected]. If you receive a loaner computer and withdraw from ALDCA, you will be required to return the computer. Loaner computers will come set up with browsers, Microsoft Office, and NewRow installed. If you are providing your own computer, you should ensure that
Printers have one cartridge of ink. The school does not supply ink or printer paper. It is a good idea for students to have two monitors. |
Materials
Almost all of the materials you need will be shipped to you. Some materials will have to be returned. Please see our How To Section to find out which materials you should receive and which materials should be returned.
Here is a generic list of school supplies that your students may need. Testing
All students at ALDCA are required to participate in and complete ALL school and state required testing in order to stay enrolled at ALDCA.
Students in kindergarten through tenth grade will complete MAP assessments three times per year. Students who do not complete this testing will be withdrawn. Here is information on the MAP assessment. There are technical requirements that need to be completed before students take the MAP test. Please see our How To Section for instructions. Required state testing takes place in the spring. Second through eighth grade students are required to participate in state-mandated testing. This requires traveling to a site close to your home each day that state testing is taking place. |
